NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Grace Humphries captures the bittersweet nostalgia of the holidays in her moving new single, “For Years,” available now. Inspired by childhood memories, holiday loneliness and the grief of losing her brother, which she revealed in a recent candid conversation with (Godtube), the song reflects on the magic of Christmas through a child’s eyes and how that feeling shifts with time. Grace’s honest lyricism and emotion highlight how the holidays can hold both joy and moments of loss and longing.

Grace said “‘For Years’ is a song about reminiscing on the Christmases you had as a child. The magic of Christmas seems to fade as you get older and you often feel more lonely during the holidays. The bridge in the song I feel best encapsulates the loneliness that so many feel: “I’ll never forget the joy I had found but those memories now seem so out of reach, like how my mother’s sweet voice called my brother and me to open our gifts under the tree. Oh why’d you have to leave?” When I say “Oh why’d you have to leave?” I speak of the memories and the magic of Christmas that passed or left. But that line also refers to my brother Liam who passed away from brain cancer when he was 10 and I was 8. I have written many songs about my brother (unreleased) but this is the first opportunity that I’ve had as a songwriter to release a song and choose a single cover that honors his memory–even though he’s only mentioned in the bridge. I hope this song brings people comfort in knowing that they are not alone during the holidays.”

With its tender composition and deeply personal message, “For Years” captures the reflective spirit of the holiday season. Through the song, Grace reminds us that even in seasons of loss, love carried forward can bring comfort and light.

ABOUT GRACE HUMPHRIES
At just 18, The Austin, TX Hill Country-based Grace Humphries is already effortlessly writing shockingly well crafted songs that artists twice her age would envy.

It started early, with baby Grace humming in her crib as an infant and piano lessons followed at age 5, though the young musician is mostly self-taught. Her mother, a Texas native, and Liverpool, UK expat father were astounded with their daughter’s early-emerging talents and encouraged her creativity at every turn. Grace and her older brother Liam bonded through music in Ramona, California, where they were raised until Liam’s devastating brain cancer diagnosis. When Grace was 8 and Liam was just 10, the family lost Liam and relocated to the Texas Hill Country. In the years that followed, Grace began channeling her feelings into music and soon knew exactly what she wanted to do in life.

Grace is constantly creating music, in and out of the studio. She hears the melodies in her head at school and at home, where she gets her ideas down via her small home recording studio. In 2024 Grace shot through the ranks at the annual All-State choir competition TPSMEA (Texas Private School Music Educators Association) as First Soprano. She won TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools) in 2020 with her rendition of “Think of Me” from Phantom of the Opera, and also won in 2022 as a soloist with her original composition, “I Am Found”. She cut her teeth performing up to hour-long sets at Chamber of Commerce events, local farmers markets as well as wineries and steakhouses.

In March of 2024, Grace had the amazing opportunity to travel to England and spend a week recording at the famous Abbey Road Studios. She also embarked on her first mini radio promotion that took her to Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee, as well as Atlanta, Georgia where she had the opportunity to be a guest on WSM 650 Coffee, Country and Cody, WDVX The Blue Plate Special and WRFG The Americana Garage with Steve Kilbride.  Her most recent radio promotion took her to Sonoma County in Northern California where she was Doug Jayne’s guest on KRCB 104.9 Sonoma County’s NPR Station for an on-air interview and live performance. She followed the on air with a live performance at the Hopmonk Tavern in Sebastopol, CA to help raise funds for KRCB.

Grace is an active member of her church’s Worship Team, where she regularly leads music for both adult and youth ministries. A recent high school graduate with High Honors and a concentration in Classical Christian Education, Grace is now setting her sights on higher education. She plans to apply to colleges that offer specialized programs in commercial singing and songwriting, with the goal of further developing her musical gifts and pursuing her passion.

Driven by the natural determination and focus of a true born artist as well as from the sense of loss she has experienced in her few short years, Grace creates music to express the joy, fragility and beauty of life as well as uses that music to connect to others.  And even at the age of 18, she knows exactly what she wants. “I just want to be happy doing what I love: storytelling and performing,” she explains, “Writing music that is meaningful and connects with people in a very real way.”
