NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Five-time GRAMMY®-winner Steven Curtis Chapman’s new album Deeper Roots: Where The Bluegrass Grows returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Bluegrass Albums chart following its chart-topping release week debut. Chapman also reached a new career milestone with Deeper Roots as the 13-track collection also landed at No. 1 on the iTunes Country Albums chart.
“What an amazing thing. I’m just very blessed. I mean, that’s the bottom line. I’m just very, very blessed and so grateful for all of the success, all the opportunities I’ve had. To be able, at this point in my life, to do something that I’ve never done before and have a first, that’s a pretty awesome, awesome thing,” Chapman expressed to PopCulture.com.

Deeper Roots, featuring collaborations with Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts and Bluegrass Music and Country Music Hall of Famer Ricky Skaggs, follows Chapman’s 2013 Billboard No. 1 Bluegrass Album Deep Roots, released exclusively with Cracker Barrel. Chapman recently performed the new album’s title track, “Where The Bluegrass Grows,” on “Fox & Friends.” The Bluegrass Situation also exclusively premiered an acoustic video of Chapman performing the self-penned song.
“Relishing an opportunity to return to his roots, taking family and friends along for the ride (Deborah Evans Price/Billboard),” Chapman partnered with Billboard for an exclusive first listen to “‘Til The Blue” featuring Gary LeVox. The heartfelt song was written by Chapman, Lori McKenna and Barry Dean. Ricky Skaggs also joined Chapman on the album to record a bluegrass version of Chapman’s hit single “Dive” from the GRAMMY®-winning album Speechless. The new rendition features a “driving bluegrass beat” and “that distinctive Steven Curtis Chapman sound” (Bluegrass Today/John Lawless).
The homage to Chapman’s rural Kentucky roots, which showcases the platinum-selling singer-songwriter’s “effortless ease with which he segues into the bluegrass genre, picking and grinning with the best of them” (Andrew Greenhalgh/CCM Magazine), includes a mixture of familiar hymns like “Life Is Like A Mountain Railroad” and “I’ll Fly Away,” fan-favorite hits including “Cinderella” and brand-new songs such as “‘Til The Blue” and “Where The Bluegrass Grows.” Deeper Roots was produced by Chapman and Brent Milligan, engineered by Milligan and Brent King, mixed by Milligan, King and Sean Moffitt and mastered by Brad Blackwood at Euphonic Masters.
