NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Netflix will release Karen Kingsbury’s A Thousand Tomorrows on September 1, increasing the #1 New York Times bestselling author and producer’s footprint in the culture’s current film space. Karen Kingsbury Productions is also set to release Karen Kingsbury’s The Christmas Ring in theaters only starting Nov. 6 (Fathom Entertainment).

“It’s been my dream to see my work not only in theaters but also on Netflix,” Kingsbury said. “The stories I write are for big audiences. I’m thrilled about the people who will discover a new level of hope and light by seeing A Thousand Tomorrows in this coming season.”

Kingsbury and writer/director Tyler Russell wrote A Thousand Tomorrows based on Kingsbury’s bestselling book by the same name. The series was produced by AFFIRM Originals and Red Clay Studios. Additional books in Kingsbury’s A Thousand Tomorrows series have not been optioned and are not yet under development.

Kingsbury said that the idea for A Thousand Tomorrows came when she heard about a young man who made a life-changing sacrifice for the woman he loved, all to buy her only about three years. “Three years,” Kingsbury said. “I wondered what sort of intense, all-consuming love that would be. Risking everything for three years … a thousand tomorrows. I knew I had to find a story like that and write about it.”

Next for the prolific author is her brand new novel The Christmas Ring (in stores October 21, Thomas Nelson-Harper Collins). The movie based on the book and starring Jana Kramer (One Tree Hill, Friday Night Lights), Benjamin Hollingsworth (Virgin River), and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, Jesus Revolution) will follow weeks later in theaters only. The Christmas Ring movie was written by Kingsbury and Russell, directed by Russell, and produced by Natalie Ruffino Wilson. Kingsbury has written more than sixty novels and has nearly 30 million copies of her Life-Changing Fiction ™ books in print.

“I have a lot of ideas for what Karen Kingsbury Productions will develop next,” says Kingsbury, who involves most of her family in her filmmaking. “I feel like I’m just getting started.”
