NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Acclaimed singer-songwriter Jenny Tolman closes out a milestone year with new single, “It’s a Boy.” Co-written by Tolman with Corey Wagar, the track is a “stirring, heartfelt tribute to Tolman’s soon-to-arrive first son.” (The Boot). To accompany the “lyrical journal of their journey into parenthood,” Tolman enlists fans for the lyric video, which features footage of fan-submitted gender reveals alongside her own. “‘It’s a Boy’ is the first song that I wrote after finding out that I was having a baby boy,” Tolman tells The Boot, as part of an exclusive ‘First Listen’ to the single. “Written with Corey Wagar, ‘It’s a Boy’ starts out at that moment in time when nobody knows that you’re pregnant yet. It’s a unique feeling, somewhat isolating because you’re holding onto this secret, but also a very sacred moment between just my husband and I, and capturing that in this song is very special to me.”
Earlier this year Tolman released her sophomore album Married in a Honky Tonk to rave reviews just weeks before marrying GRAMMY-nominated producer Dave Brainard in Jackson, Wyo. in a beautiful snow-covered ceremony, as reported in People.com. A few months later Tolman returned to Jackson for the inaugural ‘Cowgirls at The Cowboy.’ The all female line up was curated by Tolman and featured reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year Carly Pearce as headliner with performances by songwriters Natalie Hemby (Miranda Lambert, Lady Gaga, Jon Pardi, Little Big Town), Caitlyn Smith (Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, John Legend, Meghan Trainor), Carter Faith and Tolman.
Following the festival, Tolman continued to elevate women’s voices with her video for “Watering the Weeds,” which features women survivors from the Nashville-based nonprofit Thistle Farms. The video has amassed more than 500,000 views within the first 2 weeks of being released. Click HERE to watch Tolman’s video for “Watering the Weeds.”
