LAS VEGAS, Nev. –  Grammy® Award winner Micki Free and costume designer Heather Roberts announce “The Shirts Against The Blouses”® Mini Golf Tournament benefiting The Musical Beginning Foundation on Feb. 25th at Kiss World Las Vegas. The tournament pays homage to the iconic basketball game between Prince, Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy and Micki, which was immortalized in a famous Chappelle’s Show sketch. For a glimpse into the original game, check out this story from Esquire.

Sponsored by Kiss Mini Golf, Mysterium Music, Palms Resort and Casino, Food and Beverage Magazine, Need Merch and The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, “The Shirts Against The Blouses”® Mini Golf Tournament will include Micki, former KISS member Bruce Kulick, guitarist Alex Grossi of Quiet Riot and more of their famous friends. The event begins at 4 p.m. with a red carpet, followed by a 5 p.m. tee-off. The Musical Beginning Foundation will also honor The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, and KISS members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley with a humanitarian award.

Most people only think of Paul Stanley as the Star Child and Gene Simmons as the demon spitting blood in KISS, but they are sensitive, caring human beings. Micki states, “When Gene discovered me at an early age, he was almost father-like in his attention to every aspect of my career, from music to image management and beyond. His charitable donations to 1,400 students, providing school material, uniforms, and food to African children shows his full humanity.”

“Charity is not an option, it’s always an obligation,” says Paul. His charitable contributions to Mending Kids, Autism Movement Therapy, City of Hope and The March of Dimes shows how much he cares and gives back. Heather says, about how Paul Stanley has impacted her life, “Paul was a mentor to me when I worked creating clothes for him, he helped and encouraged me every step of the way as a young woman starting out in the entertainment world. Even today, he recommended me to his son, Evan Stanley, whom I now create custom clothing pieces for.”

General admission includes catered food, cocktails, mingling and game viewing inside the venue. For tickets and more information, visit TheMusicalBeginningFoundation.org

Media and celebrity guests who would like to attend may RSVP via email to [email protected]. Additional sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Led by founders Micki and Heather Roberts, The Musical Beginning Foundation empowers youth through the gift of music. In many schools, art and music programs are often the first to be cut due to budget constraints. Heather and Micki believe music is not only a creative outlet, but also essential for childhood development and mental health.

Heather is a fashion/costume designer and couturier for rock stars and celebrities alike, as well as the co-founder and designer for a children’s theater/events company in the PNW. In addition to being a Grammy® Award winning singer, songwriter and guitarist, Micki is also a “Five-Time Native American Music Award Winner” and an inductee into “The Native American Music Hall of Fame.”

Micki’s extensive career in the music business as a producer, writer, and performer, and Heather’s production experience in the entertainment and theater industry as well as her creative passion and eye for design will help inspire and inform. “Our foundation believes that, whether using music as a therapeutic outlet or professionally, ‘Music is the Medicine,’ explain Micki and Heather.

“The Shirts Against The Blouses”® Mini Golf Tournament will help bring the power of music into the lives of children who need it most, inspiring young talent, and giving them the tools they need to thrive. The event will also include an auction of autographed items, concert tickets and more to benefit the 501(c)(3).

“I feel I’ve been blessed in my musical career,” says Micki, “and it’s time to give back. Most indigenous, urban and impoverished families, like mine when I was growing, didn’t have the means to buy instruments for their children. I was lucky my Uncle Frank came to my aid and bought me my first guitar. The Musical Beginning Foundation will be our Uncle Frank to many kids—that is our goal.”

“As a child I played clarinet in school, which was a meaningful experience for me,” adds Heather. “Art has been incredibly important to me throughout my whole life. As a graduate of Parsons School of Design in NYC, and someone who has enjoyed a career in the world of celebrity costume design, I was lucky to have been immersed into fields that allowed me to express my creativity. Children today don’t have as much access or opportunities when it comes to the arts, and I am hopeful that I can be a part of creating positive change in their lives through The Musical Beginning Foundation.”
