LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Actor, musician and co-host of “The Pet Show” podcast Dennis Quaid is partnering with ITV America’s Leftfield Pictures (History’s Alone; Animal Planet’s Surviving Joe Exotic) for unscripted TV project “Saving Dennis Quaid.”
Featuring and executive produced by Quaid, the new project stems from the animal lover’s recent pet rescue, which made headlines across the country, as the A Dog’s Purpose and A Dog’s Journey actor, along with his partner Jimmy Jellinek, set out on a mission to adopt a six-year-old black cat from Lynchburg, VA, named… Dennis Quaid. The show will document Quaid’s and Jimmy’s discovery of “Dennis Quaid the Cat” and the ensuing crusade to bring the feline from Lynchburg to his forever home in Los Angeles.
Additionally, Audio Up Media – the audio-based entertainment company founded by Jared Gutstadt, alongside Quaid – is creating and producing a companion podcast mini-series with the same working title. The “Saving Dennis Quaid” podcast will live within Audio Up’s expanding pet vertical, alongside the “The Pet Show,” hosted by Quaid and Jimmy Jellinek.
Meanwhile, Quaid, Leftfield Pictures and Audio Up will take the TV project to market imminently.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be associated with the wonderful world of pets through my involvement in recent films. And while I’ve traditionally been more of a dog person, when I heard that ‘Dennis Quaid the Cat’ was in peril, I knew I had to act quick. It’s been amazing to see the public’s response to our little pet adoption, and during a difficult year for all of us, I’m glad it offered some levity and brightness. I’m very much looking forward to sharing kitty Quaid’s story with viewers and listeners in these new projects.”
Quaid and Audio Up’s Jared Gutstadt and Jimmy Jellinek will serve as executive producers on both projects. Leftfield Co-Presidents Shawn Witt and Gretchen Palek will executive produce the TV show.
