NASHVILLE, Tenn. – David Bellamy (The Bellamy Brothers), Al Anderson, Liz Rose, Dan Penn and Victoria Shaw will soon become the newest members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (NaSHOF), according to an announcement made today by Rich Hallworth, chair of the organization’s board of directors, and Mark Ford, its executive director director at a luncheon held in Nashville’s historic Columbia Studio A, part of Belmont University’s Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business.

Ford introduced each member of the new class. Bellamy was elected in the veteran songwriter/artist category, Anderson and Rose were elected in the contemporary songwriter category with Penn and Shaw in the veteran songwriter category. The top vote getter in the contemporary songwriter/artist category, Brad Paisley, is unable to attend this year’s ceremony due to a scheduling conflict and will be officially inducted next year as a member of the Hall’s Class of 2025.

This year’s five electees will join the 241 previously inducted members of the elite organization when they are formally inducted during the 54th Anniversary Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala on Wednesday, November 6, at the Music City Center.

“I’m very humbled to be part of this class of ’24 and included in such a long legacy of amazing songwriters,” shared Bellamy.

“If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me),” originally scrawled on a dinner napkin by Bellamy, rocketed the Bellamy Brothers to the top of the country charts the way “Let Your Love Flow,” had done in the pop market just a few years earlier. It proved to be the first of a string of 14 No. 1 singles in the U.S. alone.

The Bellamy Brothers hold the record in both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association Awards (CMA) for the most duo nominations. Numerous Grammy nods have also been directed toward the brothers. They’re also the only U.S. country music act who’ve toured in Dubai, India, Sri Lanka, New Caledonia and Qatar.

The legendary duo has opened up their lives to television audiences with their hit reality show, “Honky Tonk Ranch.” Airing on Circle Country, each episode captivates viewers by the unpredictable misadventures the Bellamys face while balancing their globe-trotting touring schedule while running their sprawling family ranch in south Florida.

With a new album coming this fall, the Bellamy Brothers are also busy with their Trulieve medical marijuana brand Old Hippie Stash, which includes the strains Reggae Cowboy, Big Love, Afterglow, Rattler, Blue Rodeo and Bird Dog. The duo backed the Smart & Safe Florida campaign to implement safe and common-sense cannabis regulation in their home state of Florida last year. They have already received over one million signatures of support.
