The Grand Ole Opry honors member and legendary vocalist Gene Watson, celebrating his 60 years in the music business. During a performance on Friday, April 8, Dan Rogers, Vice President / Executive Producer, Grand Ole Opry, presented Watson with the plaque after his show-stopping rendition of his octave-jumping "Farewell Party" to commemorate his six decades as an artist, receiving a standing ovation from the packed Opry House audience.

2022 marks 60 years since country music legend Gene Watson released his first single to radio. To celebrate, the iconic vocalist is embarking on his 60th Anniversary Tour, which kicked off January 1 in Florida and will take Watson across the country. Watson's single "If It's That Easy" was released to radio in 1962 via Sun Valley Records. Since then, the 'singer's singer' has charted 75 titles including 23 Top 10 hits, six No. 1 country singles and five No. 1 gospel records. The Texas native continues to perform to sold-out crowds, singing in the same key as he did more than five decades ago and thrilling fans with his famous octave jumping ending to "Farewell Party" night after night.

Country music legend Gene Watson has rescheduled several tour dates due to a band member testing positive for COVID-19. Watson and his band members will be on self-imposed quarantine for the next 14 days.

Country music legend Gene Watson will perform in Tomball, Texas on June 4 for his first show since the COVID-19 pandemic halted the iconic singer's touring schedule. After an introduction on stage by Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs, who claimed him as one of the most respected voices in country music history, Gene Watson became a member of the Grand Ole Opry this February before the novel coronavirus pandemic shut down live performances. As the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry, Watson will host a two-hour special as an Opry "House Guest DJ" at WIllie's Roadhouse on SiriusXM. Watson will share with listeners stories from his more than 50 years performing on the Opry stage. The country legend hand-picked some of his favorite songs recorded by his friends and fellow Opry members, as well as from his own extensive catalogue. Watson's set as an Opry "House Guest DJ" at Willie's Roadhouse on SiriusXM will premiere Friday, August 21 at 9 p.m. EST on Channel 59 and re-air throughout the weekend.
