NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Billy Ray Cyrus and Scott Adkins have signed GRAMMY® Award winner Micki Free as the flagship client of their newly-formed Roam Man Management as announced by Spin. While Adkins continues to manage Cyrus, this new joint venture sees the pair continuing their long-standing partnership to procure opportunities for artists they’re passionate about.

Micki is a multi-talented guitarist, songwriter, performer and producer whose career spans decades and includes collaborations with some of the most legendary figures in music. Born a Cherokee descendant, adopted Comanche Native American, Creole and Irish descent, Micki’s unique cultural heritage has deeply influenced his sound and artistic journey.

“Welcome to Music City and Roam Man Productions, Micki Free! Proud and honored you chose to join us. Can’t wait for the world to hear what you’ve been working on. We gonna be “TAKIN’ OUR COUNTRY BACK,” shared Cyrus.

“Micki Free is a GRAMMY® winning multihyphenate who’s jammed with everyone from Prince, co-wrote with KISS’s Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and even shared the stage with Cyrus. We’re thrilled to be on this journey with Micki!” added Adkins.

“Billy and I have always talked about working together for years, and now we are finally going to make that dream happen. I couldn’t be happier. I love the energy of Scott Adkins, his positivity and drive compliments our new partnership!” exclaimed Micki.

Micki’s musical career took off early when he was signed to management deals with Gene Simmons of KISS and Diana Ross. He quickly made his mark as a member of the iconic R&B group Shalamar, where he formed a lasting friendship with the legendary Prince. Micki’s manner of dress and appearance during the early 1980’s was parodied in the Chappelle’s Show sketch Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories: “Prince – Uncensored” (February 18, 2004), and retells a story about an infamous basketball game “The Shirts Against The Blouses.”

In Micki’s solo career, he has performed and or recorded with a diverse array of artists, including Cyrus, Carlos Santana, Gary Clark Jr., Janet Jackson, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Little Steven Van Zandt of Bruce Springsteen, Cindy Blackman-Santana, Cheap Trick, Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, KISS and many more. He is not only a gifted guitarist but also a master of the Native American flute, with five albums dedicated to the instrument.

Micki has performed at renowned festivals and venues around the world, from intimate Blues clubs to the massive “Hard Rock Calling” Festival in Hyde Park, London, which featured an audience of over 100,000 fans. In 2023, Micki performed at the National Mall in Washington D.C. as an official Envoy for the World Culture Festival, where he led a 1,000+ guitar ensemble, debuting the single, “We Are One,”  a song he wrote, produced, and arranged specifically for the event.

Micki recently released his EP, Dreamcatcher, which is out now on all platforms alongside a video for the title track. Written, produced, and arranged by Micki (who performed all guitars, lead and background vocals, and Native American flute), Dreamcatcher was recorded between Rio Grande Studios in New Mexico with Producer Ken Riley, and Studio A Las Vegas with Producer Myles Martin (The Weeknd, SZA, Travis Scott). For the studio sessions, Micki enlisted members of his friend Carlos Santana’s band including Cindy Blackman Santana (drums), Benny Rietveld (bass) and Ray Green (vocals). The EP also includes guest appearances from bassist Rhonda Smith (Prince, Jeff Beck) and Mark “Muggie Do” Leach on Hammond organ and piano.

The five-time Native American Music Award winner and an inductee into The Native American Music Hall of Fame is a passionate advocate for both the Native American community, as well as the arts community. Micki and his wife Heather founded The Musical Beginning Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to empowering underrepresented youth through the gift of music, and helping people to achieve their creative dreams. The Musical Beginning Foundation recently wrapped its inaugural successful celebrity fundraising event “The Shirts Against The Blouses”® Mini Golf Tournament, which paid homage to the iconic basketball game between Prince, Eddie Murphy, Charlie Murphy and Micki, at KISS World Mini Golf inside the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Micki’s work blends blues, rock, and Native American sounds into a powerful, distinctive voice. His work in the studio, on stage, and beyond reinforces a commitment to uplift and amplify Native voices in the industry. His ongoing legacy continues to inspire and influence musicians and fans alike.
